Our current tenants had the opportunity to re-sign prior to the 1st day of leasing. During leasing season, as properties are rented, they're removed to provide the most up to date list.
Be sure all applicable utilities are placed in a tenant's name as of the start of your lease. Even if you are not moving in right away, the utilities must still be in a tenant's name. The City of East Lansing water bill is put in your name for you. You'll need to contact Board of Water & Light (electric) and Consumers Energy (gas). All utilities are scheduled for automatic shutoff shortly after your lease starts, so take care of this right away.
(May properties) If you do not plan to be around for the summer, you should make arrangements to have someone check on your property occasionally. Leaving a light on is a good idea as well.
Window air conditioners are very common. You're welcome to install one, however, it must be installed correctly or we will ask you to remove it. CLICK HERE for a diagram on how to properly install your unit.
Bedroom locks are common as well. Locks are $20 and must be purchased through HRI. Once you have talked to your roommates and decided how many you'd like, please contact us and we schedule the install.
All properties have received an email detailing the move out process; including but not limited to utilities, cleaning, bulk items, and damage deposits. Appliance & screen/glass companies will be doing end of the year walk throughs beginning now and continuing until move out.
Deposit refunds, along with an itemized list of any damages deducted, are mailed with in 30 days from the end of your lease. We only send 1 check per property, so you'll need to discuss with your roommates who will receive the check and provide us with a forwarding address.
